Our Instagrammable Ports of Call series has been such a hit we have extended the series to include a sun spot favourite – the Caribbean.

Now that the temperature’s dipping and the Great White North winds have started blowing isn’t it time to consider a Caribbean cruise?

Here are our #ShipsAhoy #Insta favourites in the Caribbean.

Do you have more favourites to add to our list?

1. St. Maarten

There’s a reason the Port of St. Maarten is located where it is. It’s called the Great Bay! Cruisers enjoy a dip at Great Bay Beach. The other ‘great’ thing to do is once you reach the popular island in the heart of the Lesser Antilles head to the legendary Maho Beach. It’s here where sun lovers bask in the beach atmosphere while grabbing Instagram shots of the flying planes zooming past. Nadeen White, a travel blogger behind TheSophisticatedLife.com agrees. “The planes fly right over the beach before landing at the airport. You can see them coming then hear them roar right above you. They feel so close it’s as if you can reach out and touch them as they fly by.”

2. Bridgetown, Barbados

So you have arrived to the Bajan heartland, home of Rihanna and all things Calypso, and wonder why you haven’t taken a cruise here sooner. Something about the dramatic scenery perhaps. One Insta-haven spot that tugs at the selfie-strings is the hidden secret of Animal Flower Cave. Located north of the island it’s here where you can get inspiring shots like this one.

3. Kings Wharf, Bermuda

So picture pink sands against the turquoise blue water – maybe some jagged rocks peppering the landscape of the gorgeous beaches. Maybe it’s the jaw dropping backdrop. Whichever location you pick in Bermuda you can count on a perfect selfie or family picture. Travel and lifestyle blogger Taima behind @PoorinaPrivatePlane has visited a number of ports of call around the globe and reminds us of the stunning scenery in Bermuda. “Every corner of Bermuda is Instagrammable. Just walking off the ship you will be greeted with some amazing spots,” she says. This Insta-pic was taken on a cruise excursion to Horseshoe Bay 🙂

4. Disney’s Castaway Cay

Need a magical island to give you that ultimate cruise wedding backdrop? For frequent traveller and founder of MyCruisingFamily.com Peta-Gaye Daniel spun the globe and put her finger on this Caribbean isle. For her 10th anniversary vow renewal the couple celebrated at sea on a Disney cruise ship. She says, “We made it a point to get dressed up in wedding attire the very next day for photos on Castaway Cay because the island is that gorgeous!”

Insta-magic indeed.

5. St. John’s, Antigua

Take a day excursion up to historic Shirley Heights. Revered as Antigua’s highest point and most southerly point from this lofty perch you’ll get the best views. See the blue sea and blue sky but the other photo sweet spot belongs to the luxury private yachts bobbing in the hidden harbours. “Antigua being the island of 365 beaches is definitely Instagrammable,” relays Nicole Ratner, owner of CruisingwiththeFamily.com, a family cruise travel blog.
