Shipsahoy provides an update on Caribbean cruise ports post Hurricane Irma
Neighbouring St Martin and St Barts were battered by the storms, but Martinique fared much better, and the cruise terminal in Fort-de-France is operating normally.
3. St Barts
This playground of the rich and famous was reduced to rubble and stripped of its greenery by Irma; it lost electricity and water, and its harbour in Gustavia was temporarily closed, open only to relief efforts.
It’s still in the process of rebuilding, but several shops, restaurants and tour operators (including dive shops) are now open for business, just in time for the tourist season — and the greenery is coming back. Gustavia is accessible via tender boats and all Silversea excursions, aside from a snorkel tour, were back up and running in early December.
