Supplier: Virgin Voyages
Location: Caribbean

Virgin Voyages has announced two major developments for its inaugural season in 2020: a fourth ship and a new destination.

The new cruise line has ordered a fourth ship from Fincantieri, set for delivery in 2023 and accommodating 2,770 passengers. Valued at US$800 million, the new vessel will be similar to the three already confirmed for Virgin’s fleet, including its first ship, the Scarlett Lady.

In addition, a new destination has been announced for the Scarlett Lady in 2020: Cuba. The decision to sail to the island was influenced by customer and travel partner research that the new cruise line conducted in North America and the U.K. Both groups consistently rank Cuba as one of the most desired and interesting destinations to cruise to.

The 18+ Virgin Voyages will offer sailings to Cuba from Miami that include an overnight stay. OFAC-compliant shore experiences are currently in developments, and details will be released later in 2019.

The announcement was made at the Havana International Fair (FIHAV), which is taking place in Havana from Oct. 29-Nov. 2.

Specific sailing dates to Cuba will be released when the company opens up bookings for sale next year.
